Step 2
Select the option below which describes your current situation.
You receive EIA (Employment Income Assistance) plus one or more of the qualifying disability supports
To apply for the Manitoba Supports for Persons with Disabilities, contact your current EIA (Employment Income Assistance) support worker to discuss if you are eligible. You may be eligible to automatically apply for this program.
You receive EIA (Employment Income Assistance) but no qualifying disability supports
The best way for you to apply is by emailing disabilitysupport@gov.mb.ca and providing the following information:
- Your name
- Your EIA case number
- Your date of birth
- Your mailing address
- A phone number where we can reach you.
You can also call 204-945-1040, or toll-free 1-877-403-6773 to leave a message with the information above.
You can also contact your EIA counsellor if you are interested in applying.
Assessment and Approval
There won't be a financial assessment. Because you receive EIA, they know you meet the financial requirements. There is no need for your financial situation to be assessed.
A disability impact assessment will be required. This assessment will help the reviewers to understand how your disability affects your life.
There are two parts to the disability impact assessment:
- a self-assessment, and
- a medical form for a physician or nurse practitioner to complete.
Your EIA worker will let you know if you are required to submit one part or both parts of the assessment.
Approval will depend on whether your disability impact assessment meets the program criteria.
You have one or more of the qualifying disability supports, but no EIA disability support
To apply, you will need to book an income support intake appointment. You can book the appointment one of three ways:
- If you are within Winnipeg:
- call 204 948-4000 or
- drop in to 128 Market Ave.
- If you are outside Winnipeg:
- call 1 855 944-81111 or
- drop in at a local Regional Social Services office.
- You can book an appointment online:
- Fill in the pre-intake form (effective April 1, 2023)
Assessment and approval
A financial assessment will be required. That means they will need to work with you to understand your current available resources.
There won't be a disability impact assessment. Since you receive one or more of the qualifying disability supports, they know your disability is severe and prolonged. That means there is no need for this step.
Approval will depend on whether your financial assessment meets the program criteria.

Assessment and approval
A financial assessment will be required because you don't receive Manitoba Income Support. That means they'll need to look at your ability to pay for your basic living expenses.
A disability impact assessment will be required. This assessment will help the reviewers to understand how your disability affects your life.
There are two parts to the disability impact assessment:
- a self-assessment, and
- a medical form.
You will be required to complete the self-assessment, and have the medical form completed by a physician or a nurse practitioner.
Approval will depend on whether the financial and disability impact assessments meet the program criteria.
