Important information about applying for the Manitoba Supports for Persons with Disabilities.

The process to apply for the Manitoba Supports for Persons with Disabilities will depend on your current situation. Some Manitobans joined the program in January 2023, as they were eligible as what is called a ‘prescribed class’ and were already enrolled in Employment and Income Assistance (EIA) Disability program.

Prescribed classes are persons receiving one or more of the following qualifying disability supports:

How you will apply will depend upon your current situation. The four options to describe your situation are

  • You receive EIA (Employment Income Assistance) plus one or more of the qualifying disability supports.
  • You receive EIA (Employment Income Assistance), but no qualifying disability supports.
  • You have one or more of the qualifying disability supports but no EIA disability support.
  • You do not get EIA and no qualifying disability supports.

Important information about benefits for Indigenous Peoples

If you are Indigenous there are many things that affect the benefits you can get and the dollar amounts you can get from them. These include the agreements your band or governing body has with provincial, territorial, and federal governments. Before applying to any benefits, you should speak with your governing body, if applicable.

AFOA Canada and Prosper Canada are currently seeking funding to develop an online tool that serves the needs of Indigenous people living in Canada.
