RDSP

Step 12

Here is information on protecting your money and managing your RDSP

Protecting your money

A ‘scam’ or fraud is when someone tries to make money by tricking another person. Here are 4 ways to protect yourself and your money:

  1. Open your RDSP at a well-known financial institution.
  2. Only deposit your money at the financial institution where you have the RDSP.
  3. Do not invest in anything without professional guidance from your financial institution or a financial planner.
  4. Get help from family, good friends, or trusted advocacy organizations.

If you think you have been scammed, you can report it to the RCMP at 1-888-495-8501.

What province are you from?

Knowing your province helps us make this tool the best experience for you.

Important information about benefits for Indigenous Peoples

If you are Indigenous there are many things that affect the benefits you can get and the dollar amounts you can get from them. These include the agreements your band or governing body has with provincial, territorial, and federal governments. Before applying to any benefits, you should speak with your governing body, if applicable.

AFOA Canada and Prosper Canada are currently seeking funding to develop an online tool that serves the needs of Indigenous people living in Canada.
