Eligibility

Important information before applying for the Social Solidarity Program:

Before you apply for the Social Solidarity program, you may want to use the SimulAide tool provided by Emploi Quebec to assess whether you might be eligible to receive financial assistance.

To get this benefit, you must be an individual or family with a person living with a long-term disability that severely limits your capacity for employment.

Requirements

Age requirement

Conditions to be met if you are 18 years of age or older:

  • You can show that your resources (money, property, earnings, benefits and income) are equal to or less than the scales set by regulation.
  • You live in Quebec.

Conditions to be met if you are 18 years old or younger:

  • You can show that your resources (money, property, earnings, benefits and income) are equal to or less than the scales set by regulation.
  • You live in Quebec
  • You are married or have already been married or are the parent of a dependent child.

Identification requirements

To be eligible to apply you need confirmation of your Social Insurance Number (SIN) or your plastic Social Insurance Number (non-expired). You may also be asked to provide a document with your photograph issued by a public agency to verify your identity. If asked for this photograph, you will need to go into one of the Social Assistance offices. If you apply online using My Account – Employment Assistance – Social Assistance and are using clicSÉQUR, you will not have to provide this proof.

Basic Income Program

There are no steps you need to take to get the Basic Income Program benefits if you are eligible.

Important information about benefits for Indigenous Peoples

If you are Indigenous there are many things that affect the benefits you can get and the dollar amounts you can get from them. These include the agreements your band or governing body has with provincial, territorial, and federal governments. Before applying to any benefits, you should speak with your governing body, if applicable.
