You answered "no".

When you attend the first meeting with a caseworker, they will ask you for information about yourself to determine if you are eligible for Income Assistance. They will also ask you to provide the documentation they have requested and may take photocopies for your file.

After your meeting with a caseworker, it typically takes three to seven business days to determine if you are eligible to receive Income Assistance. After that time, you will receive a phone call or a letter stating if you are approved, and if you are, the amount you will receive each month.

If you are Indigenous there are many things that affect the benefits you can get and the dollar amounts you can get from them. These include the agreements your band or governing body has with provincial, territorial, and federal governments. Before applying to any benefits, you should speak with your governing body, if applicable.
