How to apply

Here are the steps you can follow to apply for Income Assistance. Click ‘Start step 1’ at the bottom of this page. This will take you to step one. At the bottom of each page there will be a “Next” button you can click once you have completed that step. If you have already completed a step, you can skip it. Go ahead and start by clicking on the step where you would like to start.

You can go through the steps at your own pace. If you need help at any step, go to the Help page to find out where you can get support with your application.

Steps

  1. Have you met with a Client Services Officer to assist you with your Application for Income Assistance?
  2. Have you filled out your Application for Income Assistance?
  3. Have you attached all necessary attachments to your Application for Income Assistance?
  4. Have you selected that you consent to the release of your information from your income tax returns and other required taxpayer information?
  5. Has your Client Services Officer provided their signature at the end of the Application for Income Assistance?
  6. Has your Application for Income Assistance been approved?
  7. Have you completed the Disability Assessment?
  8. Has your Disability Assessment been approved?
  9. Congratulations!

Important information about benefits for Indigenous Peoples

If you are Indigenous there are many things that affect the benefits you can get and the dollar amounts you can get from them. These include the agreements your band or governing body has with provincial, territorial, and federal governments. Before applying to any benefits, you should speak with your governing body, if applicable.
